|---|---|---|
| 1. Miners4k Markus Persson | 99 | This game has sucked up more of my time than any other 4k game to date. There is so much packed in to this and so much strategy involved it's just unbelievable. This game is so addictive and so much fun that it makes me want to play it all the time! The only reason I didn't give this a 100 is that I still don't know what's coming next and have to leave some room just in case. |
| 2. C&C 4K kappaOne | 98 | It's really amazing just how much is packed into this game. I love this genre so I feel like if I'm judging this genre I won't cut you any slack. There is just so much packed into this little game that I'm fully entertained through all the levels. I only wish there was some other message besides "Mission Failed" when I try to start the non-existant 5th mission :) |
| 3. fuzetsu Jos "oNyx" Hirth | 98 | I feel like this game really has it all. Not only is it a gorgeous game, but the gameplay is totally unique, and truly involves a great deal of skill. There are an extremely surprising number of levels, all very unique and involve their own strategies and challenges, and once you beat the game you realize just how much skill goes into beating the game with a MUCH higher score. Beating the game then isn't enough, I want to play the game over and over to get higher and higher scores. The inherent skill necessary for this game makes me really want to play it a lot! Great job for providing a game with such all around impressive features. |
| 4. Icejump4k Måns Olson | 98 | This game rocks! The multiplayer feature really makes this game. Playing with a friend just brings out so much of what strategy and fun there is possible in this game. The visuals are great, and the ability to change the settings to help slower computers is a great feature. The game is gorgeous and all of the little effects are really great. This game is one that I would play and enjoy even outside of this competition. |
| 5. Roll 4K kevglass | 98 | Amazing work! This game is a whole lot of fun and there's so much to it. It's really fun to control the bouncing ball. It's amazing just how much gameplay you can squeeze into 4k. Phenominal job on such a fun game! |
| 6. Xero - The Last Hope for Mankind Jerason Banes | 98 | This games just leaks expertise out of its pores. The visuals packed in here really shine giving this game a professional quality that anyone can appreciate. I found it a little difficult to play, but that's just me. The many bosses and levels let the skilled players really have something to work for and shoot for which is very attractive in any game genre. Excellent job on such skilled programming! |
| 7. B4k H. Clower | 97 | Wow! This is a very well polished game with a really unique feel to it. This game really shines by taking on a genre and gameplay that hasn't already been overdone, and it makes it clean, attractive, and fun. The controls are very finely tuned and I felt that I could immediately control my character as well as I wanted. Great visuals only make this game even better. Excellent job! |
| 8. Lode Runner 4K Rick McConney | 96 | This is a great rendition of Lode Runner for sure! This is such a fun game to play and the number of levels packed into this is incredible. I felt like the key choices were slighty unintuitive but once you found them it was fine. My one complaint is that there's no indication that you need to go to the top of the level once all the gold has been collected. Something flashing at the top of the ladder might be nice to help people better figure out what's going on. |
| 9. W4K Glenn Sanson | 96 | I must say this is an amazing game. I can't believe all of this was packed into 4k. My only complaint however is that you don't have fine enough control over the angles and power. I found that in some games when the distances were far it was literally impossible to adjust the power to how I wanted it. |
| 10. Warpstar4K woogley | 96 | When I'm looking for a good game to play, one of the things that makes a game really desirable is how addictive it is. This game hits the top of the charts on addictiveness. I feel a great rush when playing this game and it really makes me want to play it a lot. My one concern is that as the game gets faster the framerate seems to decrease which makes it a little more difficult to play. |
| 11. Alpha Shot 4k kappaOne | 95 | Great progression of difficulty, graphics, gameplay. The powerups give a real incentive to keep playing and makes you want to play again even after it's over! Great job |
| 12. Balls4K Jojoh | 95 | This game is so original and so very well polished! You can really see the effort of the development in how well this game works. The gameplay balance is great and I struggle to find anything to complain about. This is an example of what happens when a developer really puts hard work into producing high quality material. |
| 13. Goomba4K woogley | 95 | Games really get my attention when they're addictive. Goomba4K is one such game that is INCREDIBLY addictive. I'm amazed at how much skill is involved in such a simple game and I absolutely love playing it for way too long. It's a really great game. |
| 14. Radar III Justin Reardon | 94 | Wow this game is great! The visuals are superb and the difficulty balance is too. I love the variation of enemies and the controls. Everything is really great. The only reason this score isn't top notch is that I can't play it for too long. This game is really great, but the ones on the top of my list are the ones I can play all day. This one is too hard for me to keep up. I feel like I have to rest my hand and eyes after playing for a few minutes. |
| 15. Sudoku4k nonnatsac | 91 | This Sudoku rendition is very well done! I love the look, it's very easy to work with. The control mechanism totally suits my style of play as well. I like the red vs. blue indication so you know when you've made mistakes. Perhaps a score mechanism that would detract from score for mistakes made would be nice to keep one from abusing that feature to find the solution. Aside from that small request, this game is very well done. |
| 16. Skeet Shoot CaptainJester | 90 | This game is really well done! I love the changes in game play elements and difficulty and the bonus rounds are lots of fun. The visuals could use a little work, but the game itself is great! |
| 17. Speed 4k Alan Waddington | 90 | A great job has been done in building the engine for this game. The terrain and 3D feel is superb and it feels great driving in this game. Sharp turns seem a little unusually hard to handle, but overall it's done very well. I wish there was more incentive to play, like completion of levels or something to show you you did well and want to do it again. Just getting a better "fastest lap" isn't very rewarding. |
| 18. Sokoban4k Kent Larsson | 89 | The game is very well done, the graphics are good, animation and effects as well. This game also has lots of levels which is impressive, but unfortunately I'm just not as much into this type of game so I didn't find it quite as fun as some of the others. |
| 19. Freefall 4k Måns Olson | 88 | The graphics in this game are simple yet very pleasant and absolutely enough to make the game enjoyable and not feel cheap. The gameplay, I felt, was very unique and I was very happy to realize that there really is quite a lot of skill involved in doing nothing more but clicking a single button. The game is fun and I feel like I want to keep playing to keep getting better at it. However it lacks the depth of some of the other games that really earns a top-notch score. |
| 20. Lady Bug 4K Rick McConney | 87 | This is a great game for the genre and I really enjoyed playing it. The graphics are very attractive although I believe it could have benefited from some anti-aliasing, although that might have been too much on performance. The one thing I wish had been adjusted is the fact that I can completely cover one of the "dots" and not pick it up, yet I can be moving around a corner in such a way that no part of my lady bug is touching the bad guys and he still can reach me and take a life away. |
| 21. 4k Kung Fu Scott Palmer | 85 | Gameplay is really enjoyable at first until you realize the only thing that determines a win over a loss is who can attack faster. Needs some sort of block functionality. The sound is fun and the bounce-back effects are great too. Needs more incentive to do well so that you get the feeling of wanting to play again. |
| 22. 4kanoid (Fork-a-Noid) kevglass | 85 | The game was very clean looking and very smooth. It was also a plus having lots of levels. While the game was pleasing on the eye and the powerups were good, the occasional bounce-the-wrong-way glitch and the simple gameplay kept this game from scoring much higher. |
| 23. Kaboom4K David Levine | 85 | While the graphics aren't quite as polished as some of the other games, the gameplay in this entry is great! I really felt the progression of difficulty and collision detection were worked with and tweaked to make this concept into a really fun game. This game is really easy to pick up and understand and improve on. It only needs a little more incentive built in to encourage players to do well. |
| 24. Minesweeper Deluxe 4K Hansdampf | 85 | Great job on such a positive spin on Minesweeper! I love what was done with all of the gameplay elements. The one thing that irks me is the flashiness of the game. It hurts my eyes to look at everything going so wild on my screen. A balance between simple animation and flashing frenzy needs to be found so that the game is more pleasant to look at instead of less pleasant. |
| 25. Star Fighter 4K rdcarvallo | 83 | I really liked the controls in this game and I felt great because it was so hard to get hit! I like the fact that it was easy to hit the enemy but hard to get hit, but at times like when the orange enemies showed up that crowded you so tight it was hard to find a way to deal with since they have to hit you eventually. I felt like there wasn't quite enough option for using skill when that happened. However I definitely enjoyed having many AI types to deal with, and the end of level effect was great! |
| 26. Road Kill Glen Carter | 82 | Is it bad that I had so much fun playing this game? Great job on such an inventive game! I loved the effects and animations, although I believe the bloot splats should have been randomized instead of just the same all the time. The deer also would appear to be on the left side of the road in the distance, but would suddenly pop up close on the far right side. I didn't like that. The trees didn't have this problem, but they also came up on you at a different speed than the animals did. This also shouldn't happen. It gave a very confusing and unrealistic feel to the game that I couldn't really figure out how to deal with. |
| 27. 3DTunnel Ali Akbar Vathi | 80 | Controls seem a little harder than they should be, and doing well and getting "You Won" seems kind of anti-climactic. The graphics are great though and the gameplay is fun even if the controls are a little hard. A little more reward and incentive to do well would help bring this game up. |
| 28. Ares Wolfgang Kienreich | 80 | The technology is simply amazing, no doubt about it. Also it's hard when I start but I feel like I get better each time I play. The game itself is perhaps too difficult and too simple to rank way up there, but the technology sure makes it extra impressive. |
| 29. Gandalf 4K kevglass | 80 | This is a really surprisingly fun little game! Unfortunately I had trouble firing diagonally every time I wanted to and the game seemed a little difficult from the start. The visuals aren't up to the standards set by the other games either. Still, the game is a lot of fun. |
| 30. R4k gareth | 80 | This game is visually spectacular. It has a great balance between simple and attractive. The game is smooth and I love all of the animation effects. However this game loses points for me when I see the computer players can turn instantaneously to where they want and I cannot. I also felt that when half of my triangle covers a circle that should count for me hitting it but the game did not always agree. I felt that part was too restrictive. |
| 31. LunaBug4K David Levine | 78 | I love the idea of this game, and the progression of difficulty is fairly well done, I feel that at some times it's too easy to finish the levels yet too difficult to control your character. I believe with more work and more testing a more fun and a bit faster paced balance could be achieved. The game was slightly jerky as well, which is surpising since the graphics don't have that much to show. |
| 32. Puzzling Dominoes 4K rdcarvallo | 75 | The game is fun, the visuals are great, and the animations are smooth and attractive! I'd like to see something better done with the border of the game because the simple black line takes away from the quality. The game also starts a little too fast for my tastes. This came could benefit from some effect that would give incentive to do well. |
| 33. SpyHunter4K Dave & Chris | 75 | The game looks great, but the controls feel hard to work with. I feel like any time I can bump the main enemy car off the road, I always follow off the edge right after him because the horizontal velocity suddenly spikes and boom I'm over. I tried many many times and could never get the hang of it. From playing so many other similar games I feel like it shouldn't have been so hard. |
| 34. Bungie Bill Scott Palmer | 73 | This game is great for originality and sound and cute little visuals. It makes me as a developer wonder how Scott Palmer did half of what he did! However because there's not much to the gameplay it seems either you never catch on and never enjoy the game, or you get good at it and find it boring because you never die anymore and there's no more incentive to play. However the unique gameplay elements still force you to recognize that this is a good piece of work. |
| 35. A spring is in the air Jojoh | 70 | It sure is fun to build things with the springs, but the objective for each level is never made clear. There's no indication of whether or not you're doing well or doing poorly, and score doesn't help explain anything either. I'm sure there was intended to be a point and an objective, but I couldn't figure it out from within the game. |
| 36. Fish4k gareth | 70 | The game is fun, and certainly keeps me entertained for a little while. The music is also a nice touch which surprisingly didn't drive me mad despite how long I played this. However it's missing something extra to keep you interested in playing more. That and it's kind of frustrating when your fish takes up 1/3 of the screen and then it just gets too rediculous to keep playing. |
| 37. Gumblocks4k Måns Olson | 70 | Very neat game, quite challenging! The look is simple but still pretty good. The game is probably a little too difficult from the start and there doesn't seem to be all too much to the strategy. |
| 38. Java Rally Racer 4k Nicholas Klaebe | 70 | I really enjoy the difficulty of racing against an opponent, but the game seems to have some flaws. Sometimes I'll cut a corner and feel like I should be allowed to when the game does not agree. Even if I've just barely cut the sharp point of a corner I find that I lose the game because of it. Aside from that, missing a checkpoint or getting knocked into the grass seems like an immediate loss because I can never find a way to slow down and turn back to the track. |
| 39. Sail 4K Rick McConney | 70 | This game gains a lot of points for graphics and moderate game play, but there's an overall confusion about exactly where the wind is coming from. Perhaps I'm just not a sailor so I have difficulty understanding how this is working. However I when the race ends and I'm in first I don't get any indication that I even won, so I have no incentive to play again. |
| 40. Spline4k Gareth Jenkins-Jones | 70 | This seems like it could be a really neat game, but I got the feeling that memorizing where to park on certain levels was the only strategy element in the game. The balls were so often very close to the bottom of the screen which made it nearly impossible to avoid being shot if one of the balls did shoot at you. |
| 41. Rally X 4K rdcarvallo | 67 | I like the idea of this game, but it felt slow and jerky. I tried to figure out if the smoke actually would confuse the red car, but I found he always knows exactly where I am regardless of how I strategically use the smoke, and all it does is slow him down. So that means the only strategy in using it isn't to place it in just the right spot, but instead to just wail on the key the whole game. That makes this game too simple and slow to be that much fun. |
| 42. AirPong4k flx (Felix del Rio) | 65 | The idea is great, and the 3D table is really fun to play on, but the game play is rather jerky and the physics very unrealistic. Having my control go through the puck is awfully annoying as well. The idea is great but I expected the gameplay to be executed much better. |
| 43. Doom Buggy 4K Peter Finch | 65 | Neat idea, and the technology is certainly impressive with the 3D terrain. However playing the game is hard and while playing more makes it easier, it's not necessarily because of any skill factor. The gameplay doesn't seem interesting enough to merit a very high score. |
| 44. Frag 4k Alan Waddington | 65 | From the looks of this game I really wanted it to be a lot of fun. The visuals are really great, but the gameplay only kept me interested for a couple of minutes. You have a simple weapon and the enemies are all totally dumb. You can play the whole game by the radar and with very little effort never come close to getting hit. |
| 45. Jyruss Erik Hooijmeijer | 65 | This is a really need looking game, but the fire rate feels awkwark and the game is pretty jerky. It's a neat idea but I believe if more time were spent on it it could be a lot better executed. |
| 46. Ripples EgonOlsen | 65 | This game is really need to look at and fun to control the ripple thing, but I could never figure out what exactly the point was. I was going after the dots and that seemed to be doing well, and it would give me some life back if I lost it, but sometimes all of a sudden I would lose a lot of life and I couldn't figure out why. I thought maybe it was that dots were going off the screen but I couldn't see that happening and I felt like I was getting them all. All in all, I wish there was more instruction in game as to what I'm supposed to be doing. |
| 47. 4kTetrisAttack christian mueller | 60 | Attractive look. The visuals were well organized but the game wasn't very well balanced for fun play. It gets hard too quickly and even if you're doing well you don't get any feeling of accomplishment. |
| 48. Gravitator4K David Levine | 60 | This is another very unique style game which is quite a lot of fun to play! Unfortunately the poor graphics and interface along with my inability to find a "reset" button gives the impression that this game didn't receive a lot of polish time, making it not as good as it should have been. |
| 49. Asteroids 4K CaptainJester | 50 | A good rendition of a classic Asteroids game, but nothing too risky was done. Nothing really too special to be accounted for. However I did get killed immediately after level 4 began when an asteroid spawned directly in front of me and in my path. |
| 50. JSquares Duff Means | 50 | This game needs some sort of built-in instructions. It's too hard to figure out how to play or what the goal is. |
| 51. MiniSudoku Paul Ho | 50 | The first game I was dealt had more than one solution, which was kind of a bummer because real Sudoku is supposed to only have 1 solution. Upon completion the only notification I had that I had won was the fact that I couldn't click anything anymore. It was also difficult to play without the thick lines to separate all 9 groups. The visuals are very minimalistic and not very attractive. |
| 52. Bad Sector Honk | 40 | I love the genre, but the game just doesn't live up to any expectations. The idea is pretty neat, but it didn't feel playtested to make the game as good as it could be. |
| 53. Calc 4K m.e. | 35 | I just aparantly suck at this game. |
| 54. Kana Invaders 4k Alan Waddington | 30 | After playing for a little while I realized that I had to hit a key corresponding with the symbol in front of me before I could shoot it. I wish there was some indication of what key was needed because I would just wail on the keyboard until I found the right one. Then came a point where that stopped working and I'd hit a series of keystrokes to get the symbol I needed to appear, and I still couldn't destroy that symbol. If this is a bug, then that's no good. If it's not a bug, there was still no indication in the game of what I had done wrong. The graphics unfortunately gave much to be desired as well. |
| 55. Daleks4K 12013 | 10 | The only key I got to work was the Escape key. Other than that, I got nothing. Something did draw on the screen, so I gave it some points for that. |
